Lighting Looking for a Sponsor
Lighting this project was fairly straightforward because it was a comedy. Most scenes called for a natural, bright, and inviting look.
The restaurant and bar scenes gave us more room to shape the mood and add contrast without taking away from the humor.
The biggest challenge wasn’t the lighting it was trying not to laugh during takes.
That’s one of my favorite parts of independent filmmaking: working with a cast and crew who are genuinely enjoying the process. This isn’t a technical lighting breakdown. It’s about the experience. China’s leadership helped create a set where everyone could stay focused while still having fun. The long hours, conversations, jokes, problem solving, and moments between takes all became part of the film, even if the audience never sees them.
That’s what made this set special.
